Description
This ongoing series of paintings, “Encounters with Grace”, convey an accumulation of emotions – loss, grief, melancholy and transformation.
A couple of years after the loss of his partner, Kate, Reis began to paint clouds. They provided a way to heal and be meaningful without deliberate intention.
Clouds have a rich tradition and artists often used weather to reflect human emotions and the passage of time. Dutch landscape painters created dramatic cloudscapes, to represent fleeting moments and profound feelings of impermanence. Romantic artists were fascinated with the power and beauty of the natural world. Clouds in art history are more than just water and rain, they convey deep meaning and moments of resonance.
