Thomas spent his youth exploring the woodlands of rural Essex making bows and arrows and tree houses. His passion for manipulating materials grew and developed while Thomas was at college and his talent for creating sculptural art became increasingly evident. Thomas’s early works show clear influences from the 20th century masters of modernism. As Thomas developed his skills, his passion for contemporary abstract forms grew and over the past decade he has become a sought-after metal sculptor creating 3-D designs and sculptures using bronze, stainless steel, copper, resin composites and carbon fibre as his preferred materials of choice. His sculptures, influenced by organic, natural forms, are concerned primarily with aesthetics.
Major projects include public commissions for local authorities in the UK, a stunning set of automated gates for a private residence and a 3 meter high bronze commissioned for the new Austin Road Metro Station in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Mainly undertaking private, corporate and public commissions, Thomas is happy to tackle any scale or budget.
We are thrilled to bring Thomas Joynes’s work to this part of the world.
