Bronze Galapagos Tortoise life size sculpture. This life-like, life-size bronze statue of a giant tortoise is by renowned animal sculpture artist Gill Parker. This pair of Galapagos Tortoises was commissioned by my client and then made available as a Limited Edition. This was one of my most interesting commissions. The often tragic history of these animals from when Charles Darwin recorded them to the ways they were used and collected by the man was fascinating and sad. My visits to the Rothschild collections at Tring and the access to the living specimens kindly granted by London Zoo, all made for a very interesting and enjoyable time. These are lovely creatures full of character, something which I didn’t expect and which was an added bonus.
