These works were inspired by the haunting images of the fire devastated upper Blue Mountains on and around my family property.
The fire was so intense it left a monochromatic scene of the deepest blacks against a smokey white sky and parched sandy earth. Exposed, naked and vulnerable was everywhere but there was also a strong spiritual presence signified by the silver leaf, an other worldliness that reflected back at me with a quiet defiant power and it whispered…”I’m going to rest a while and in my slumber I will mend and return stronger than ever…I am ancient, your kinds presence is here violent but fleeting…
